Why are puppy classes so important?
Puppy classes dramatically improve the future quality of life of puppies and their people. There was a time when most dog people understood this, and puppy classes were widely available, but lately, puppy classes have become less popular, and our puppies and dogs are suffering as a result. Dog reactivity, anxiety, and aggression are all on the rise, and confidence and control are becoming less common among companion dogs.
Puppy classes prevent these problems with training and socialization games that are fun and easy. Dogs that attend puppy classes are much more likely to:
- Develop confidence around unfamiliar people and dogs.
- Develop bite inhibition and learn how to play appropriately with other dogs
- Learn how to follow instructions, even in exciting and distracting environments, all essential skills for any companion dog
