Canine Good Citizen Class Details

The Canine Good Citizen Group class is for dogs who have some knowledge of their basic commands – sit, stay, down, walking on leash and recall. During the Canine Good Citizen Group class, we will re-enforce these basic commands combined with distractions, transitioning away from treats and strength behaviors to provide fast and reliable responses.

This class will prepare the handler and their dog to be able to take the Canine Good Citizen Test at the end of the 5 weeks.

If your dog does not have a basic understanding of these commands coming into the class, this 5-week class will most likely not be enough time to learn the command sufficiently to be able to pass the CGC test.

Class Details

5 Week Advance Command Training & CGC Testing. We will re-enforce, Strengthen & Prepare for the CGC Test.
Class start date Saturday July 11th 2026
Class will meet from 8:00am – 9:00am (1 hour) on Saturday mornings for 5 weeks.
The class is $170 for the 5 weeks. When your dog passes the CGC test at the end of the 5 weeks you will receive paperwork that your dog has successfully passed the test that you can submit to AKC to receive your certificate.
It will be 4 weeks of training on the commands and the last Saturday we will take the Canine Good Citizen Test.
The owner is required to work with their dog 10 – 15 mins per day on strengthening all cues taught.
One handler per dog in class, but the entire family is welcome to attend.

Required Training Equipment

6 ft leash
Training collar such as: martingale, Gentle Leader®, Harness
No Choke Chains or Electronic Collars allowed on site.
Training Treats and / or toy
Training Pouch

Our classes are held outside on the Upper deck at Paws Chateau. Please dress comfortably for the season that we are in! We recommend wearing layers of clothing and comfortable, closed toed shoes like Tennis shoes or hiking boots NO Flip Flops.

NOTE: There must be a minimum of 5 students signed up for this class for it to proceed.

Please Note: All female dogs are required to be spayed by 6 months and all male dogs are required to be neutered by 8 months to attend open play for our Daycamp & Train and Board & Train training programs.
